Tunisia: start of work in the tourist complex "Gammarth bay "

The first construction work in the new tourist and residential complex " Gammarth bay " has recently been inaugurated after the stowing of an area lying over 8 hectares on the coast side called " Carthage coast ," which goes up from “ La Marsa” to “Raoued”.



This project which had been announced in 2006 and promoted by Mr. Aziz Miled , spread over an area of 20 hectares. It will contain a marina with 450 rings, luxurious residences consisting of 374 houses , 251 apartments, a supermarket, 20 small shops , 12 restaurants , many cafes and a fitness center .



This project which reached an investment amount of 250 million TD , will be ready by spring 2012.

Aerolia Tunisia, Airbus’s subsidiary, settles down in Tunisia

The Airbus’s subsidiary in Tunisia “Tunisia Aerolia” has officially settled down in Tunisia with a capital of 1.8 million TD. this unidentified company which is called “Aerolia Tunisia” aims mainly at creating a sub-assemblies and assemblies aircraft manufacturing unit . The new company is located in El Mghira ‘s industrial area , suburb of Tunis.



this company has Five directors namely , Mr. Christian Cornille (Chairman of the Board of Directors), Mr. Didier Bourda, Mr. Eric Zanin, Mr. Eric Labranche and Thierry Antras . The Executive team is going to be headed by Mr. Dominique Alexandre.

Tunisia participates in the International imported products’ fair

Nine Tunisian exporting companies took part in the 7th edition of the International imported products ‘ fair which has been recently held in Seoul (South Korea).



The Tunisian stand which was organized by the Exports promotional center (CEPEX), in collaboration with the Tunisian Embassy in Seoul, has exhibited different samples of Tunisian exported items such as olive oil, pasta, dates , wines as well as crafts including coral , silver , cosmetics and hygiene products.



the Tunisian stand ,which contains the highest companies’ number compared to other exhibitors, has been largely appreciated by Korean visitors , the fact that allowed Tunisian exporters to create contacts with Korean importers especially in the agribusiness field .

Tunisia : a new reception quality’s label “ Marhaba”

The national standardization and patent rights institute ( INNOPRI) has just launched a new reception quality ‘s label called “ Marhaba “ .



The major aim of this label , which is created in collaboration with the administrative services quality ‘s unit resulted from the prime ministry , is to boost the quality of reception services within public institutions ( direct reception , telephone reception , courier service and e-mails ) as well as to introduce a quality and training system to this field .



In addition, this new label aims at assuring the conformity of Tunisian administrative services to the international quality norms .

Tunisia : establishment of important projects to boost maritime transport in Zarzis

Various projects initiated in the context of the xith developmental plan ( 2007-2011) are under construction in Zarzis’s commercial port in order to promote maritime transport in that region .



These new projects that reached an amount of 50 million TD , aim essentially at consolidating the basic infrastructure through the extension of the port’s seat and the oil ‘s platform as well as the development of public ports , the lighting of platforms and the embellishment of the port’s surrounding .



In addition , several projects were fulfilled in this port with an investment amount of 12 million TD which have largely contributed to promoting services quality .Among these projects , there are the dredging of the port , the construction of an elevator , the installation of signposts and the maintenance of the port’s equipments .



This port contributes by 3% of the total goods transport movement at the national level .the port’s docking systems are composed of 5 platforms with a 950 meters of length .



Zarzis is a coastal town in southeastern Tunisia , on the coast of Mediterranean sea . it is a popular tourist destination mixing the old and the traditional. It has a major port where a park of economic activities is based. In fact this very port is of major importance and played a very crucial role throughout the history of Zarzis, to the Phoenicians , Romans and Arabs the port was of strategic importance.

Sogeclair settles down in Tunisia

The engineering company specialized in land, Air and military transport “Sogeclair” has announced the establishment of a new Mediterranean subsidiary called “ Clairis Mediterranean technologies” (CMT), in Tunis.

This new subsidiary is going to be operational in the 2nd half of 2009. The company’s responsible claimed that Its major goal is to provide "a response to its projects’ low cost , particularly in the aeronautical sector " . This new company will position itself in all the engineering professions chaired by Mr. Philippe Robardey. By the end of 2009 , Clairis Mediterranean technologies will have between 15 and 25 Tunisian engineers.



Mr. Philippe Robardey stated that The new offices are going to be located near the airport but "a transfer to the new aerospace park is possible as well ".

Noor Islamic bank is still operational in Tunisia

Noor Islamic bank PJSC has responded ,during a press briefing hold on May 13, 2009 in Dubai , to the inexact rumors about the closing of its representative office in Tunis .

Therefore , Mr.Hussain Al Qemzi , chairman of Noor Islamic bank announced that “ our representative office in Tunis is still active and we are going to continue exploring other opportunities in the North African markets .” he added also that “ we are involved in assessing the market’s regional tendencies and the impacts of the current circumstances , so we will still always be operational in order to obtain a sustained growth and profit.”

Tunisian economic Day in Bavaria

Mr.Abdelhamid Triki, the state’s Secretary of International Cooperation and foreign investment has recently paid a

working visit to Bavaria (in Germany )during which he chaired Tunisia’s economic day at the Commerce and Industry chamber in Nuremberg city .During this meeting, a presentation was introduced about the Tunisian industrial strategy by the year 2016.



This meeting has also allowed representatives of German companies who previously invested in Tunisia to present their evidence about the investment ‘s surrounding .



The state’s secretary has focused on the various advantages offered by Tunisia due to its economic policy based on several reforms which helped   diversifying the economic basis and consolidating the national economy’s competitiveness . Mr. Triki claimed also that Tunisia has succeeded to face the financial crisis thanks to the wise presidential decisions that were taken about Tunisian economy.



German participants have appreciated the tax shelter offered by Tunisia in terms of investments in addition to its   human resources as well as its political and social stability .



In addition , Mr.Triki has met MM .Katya Hessel, state ‘s secretary responsible of Bavaria’s economy, who

expressed her appreciation to the Tunisian economic policy and the Tunisian   success in facing the global crisis.



the state’s secretary has also met Mr. Horst FORTH, Nuremberg mayor , who stressed the importance of consolidating the cooperative relationship between the two countries .

inauguration of the developmental work in the Monastir’s Industrial area

The start of the developmental project at the industrial area “ezira 1 and 2” , has been launched on May 6, 2009 in Monastir .

The inauguration of this work was the result of the decisions taken by the president Zine el Abidine ben Ali   , during his visit to the Monastir governorate on April 6, 2009 , which include the development and maintenance of Monastir’s industrial area .



This project cost an amount of 300 thousand TD and is going to benefit 195 industrialists and artisans installed with the ONAS ( the national streamline office) that will provide lighting, connecting the area to the telecommunications network , paving the sidewalk and restoring the streets .



On this occasion, M. Khelifa Jbeniani, Monastir Governor , urged the industrialists to contribute in this project’s development , in collaboration with the developmental and maintenance group in the Industrial area .



Monastir is a city on the central shore of Tunisia , in the Sahel area. Traditionally a fishing port, Monastir is now a major tourist resort.

Tunisair signed an agreement with Amadeus

The Tunisian air company Tunisair has signed on April 27, 2009 , an important agreement with the international leader of technological solutions and the distributor of trips and tourism industry “ Amadeus” .

This agreement consists of using a new platform ,specialized in the management of passengers, which is developed by Amadeus . this platform called “Altéa customer management “ allows Tunisair , as well as its subsidiaries Sevenair and Mauritania Airways , to promote its customer services from the booking day to the boarding one .



“Altéa customer management” is based on a modular architecture , it provides an optimum interface together with the other company’s applications in addition to benefiting the company’ agents with a common visualization of customers’ profiles through the access to a graphic interface which provides passengers with more information about flight schedule and time etc…



Moreover , Tunisair pitched on the “Amadeus ticket changer “ which is a new tool that allows customers to modify their tickets automatically and instantaneously ( booking , penalty payment , route change etc…)

The 3rd MENA ‘s insurance summit will be held in Tunisia

Tunisia hosts from April 28 to April 30, 2009 the third insurance summit of the North African and Middle east regions ( MENA) .This summit is organized by “ the Middle east insurance review” in collaboration with the” Best ré “ and “ Tunis ré” .

The main theme which is going to be discussed during this event is “ the handling of the insurance problems in north Africa to cross the Middle east development and face the economic crisis “ . several mangers of insurance companies are going to take part in this summit.



After 2 editions that were held in Amman 2007 and Dubai 2008 , this new edition is going to be held in Tunisia in order to debate the new stakes facing the new circumstances and to focus on the market’s potential which has been remarkable by a rapid   progress.

STEG : new investment in the solar energy sector

Mr. Ottman Ben Arfa , STEG ‘s CEO , has announced on April 21 , 2009 during a press conference ,the launching of new investments in the solar energy sector ; the first which is considered the most important , is the establishment of the first thermo solar station in Tunisia by 2014 . this station will have a capacity of 25 megawatts .

The second project will be the construction of a STEG building that preserve energy and use solar power.

Finally, The third one   consists of the installation of 10 million kilowatts c of photovoltaic solar roofs over 5.000 apartments for the period between 2011-2014 .

The” Real estate fair 2009” next May in Tunis

“Sogefoires international” organizes the 7th edition of the real estate exhibition which is going to be held on May 6 and will remain until May 10, 2009 at La” charguia” ‘s international fair center , under the patronage of the ministry of equipment , habitat and land settlement .

This new edition joins together all the stakeholders and the potential businessmen . this exhibition aims essentially at promoting the real estate sector in Tunisia and presenting global offers of all the finishing products and services to those who are interested in this field and who can adapt to the environment’s demands and the energy ‘s efficiency.



This edition is going to be marked by new activities such as the presence of a global media ( introduction , radio/TV spots , poster campaign , a big campaign on the net   , contact with the press and journalists ) in addition to animation activities ( workshops , conferences , games , etc… ) .
